Police professionals can now register for an online Digital Forensic Technician Apprenticeship event hosted by the Forensic Capability Network (FCN).

This one-off, one-hour webinar gives police organisations valuable insights from seasoned professionals who have successfully recruited the UK’s first DF apprentices in recent months. Attendees will gain insights into the intricacies of the recruitment processes, lessons learned, and invaluable tips on navigating the Level 4 apprenticeship successfully.

Event Details

The first police forces are actively recruiting for the first cohort of DF apprentices, including Nottinghamshire Police and the Met, as well as the Serious Fraud Office, using learning providers Blue Lights Digital and Staffordshire University. FCN’s Jo Morrissey will introduce and host the session, joined by police speakers.

At the webinar, participants will gain an understanding of the fundamental aspects of the apprenticeship and its significance for digital forensics. There will be updates on the curriculum and delivery, including insights into portfolio requirements, the end point assessment, how to find providers through the Department of Education website, and the student registration process.

Another focus for the session will be using the apprenticeship levy effectively and working collaboratively with HR to create impactful apprenticeship posts. We’ll explore effective advertising strategies and gain insights into what to look for in potential candidates and how to shortlist applicants.

Finally, the session will cover managing apprentices through mentoring, off-the-job training, and supervision protocols. We’ll also share the benefits of having apprentices, exploring first-hand the positive impact apprenticeships can have on your organisation and the wider digital forensic community.

Register here until close of play Thursday 14 March. If you have any questions or need further information, contact FCN’s Jo Morrissey at [email protected].
